SCVTS Computer Applications

Classroom Requirements:


I have high expectations. I expect you to act appropriately, complete your work to the best of your ability and in a timely manner.

You are responsible for your makeup work. You get one day to complete it, for each day, you are out

You are required to keep a hardcopy portfolio, of all of your work, in the order in which it is give, in a three ring Binder, ALL work must be included complete with identifying information, your name, block and date..eg..   Jones 3 09092011. Portfollio’s will graded on Fridays (test grade).

Course Content:

Project based learning, applications are introduced when needed in the Course, Excel to create Gantt Charts, Word for proposals, Resume’s etc. Areas of study include “Intel, The Journey Inside”, “The Machine that Changed the World”, Applications: Office, Gimp, Sketchup, Movie Maker and more.


Computer Applications Class  Projects:


You will create at least two projects. Number one is a multimedia portfolio (VCD) including a Video Resume’, demonstrating your shop skills eg, demonstrating your leadership skills, changing Brake Pads, TIG Welding Aluminum,. Many examples of Video Resume’s are on YouTube. Your portfolio will also include a conventional, “perfect” resume in Rich Text And PDF format. This Project is due, five school days before the end of the first  marking period. The class will view and critique your Video Resume’. Skills developed in this project  include basic computer skills (Excel, Word) and time management (Gantt Charts). You will demonstrate your progress by meeting with the instructor weekly. You will also receive a weekly grade for your Gantt Chart, Portfolio, Quiz

 The second computer project is e five days  from the end of the course, and include a formal presentation to the class by you.  Project two starts with a written Proposal (a persausive letter, indicating what your project is, what the expected outcome is and how it will benefit you. Remember we are all starting from different points, what I am looking for is growth! Once WE agree, the next step is to create a Gantt Chart for your Project.
